‘Education is the Science of Relations’; that is, that a child has natural relations with a vast number of things and thoughts: so we train him upon physical exercises, nature lore, handicrafts, science and art, and upon many living books, for we know that our business is not to teach him all about anything, but to help him to make valid as many as may be of—

‘Those first-born affinities

That fit our new existence to existing things.’

~ Charlotte Mason, A Philosophy of Education

Education That Inspires, Not Just Informs

At Living Faith Tutorial, our approach to education is firmly rooted in a Christ-centered, biblical worldview. This foundation shapes everything we do—both in the classroom and in our daily rhythms of learning and growing together.

We believe that every child is made in the image of God and is designed to learn within loving boundaries, not under high-pressure systems or left to figure things out alone. Children thrive when they are gently guided, nurtured in good habits, and invited into a joyful relationship with both God and the world He has made.

This conviction has led us to embrace the philosophy of Charlotte Mason, a 19th-century British educator who championed a relational, truth-filled approach to learning. Her methods deeply honor the heart and mind of the child—while grounding every subject in the reality of God’s truth.

Our curriculum, Alveary, is developed by the Charlotte Mason Institute, offers students a rich and balanced education in language arts, math, science, history, and a wide feast of living ideas across the arts and humanities. It’s a beautiful, thoughtful way to educate—and it reflects what we believe about childhood, discipleship, and the wonder of learning. Samples of the Alveary curriculum can be found here.

Our approach emphasizes living books, story, hands-on experiences, and direct observation rather than relying solely on textbooks and rote memorization.
It also requires short lessons, outdoor exploration, and the cultivation of good habits. Narrative and story are used as powerful tools for conveying complex ideas and inspiring imagination. By incorporating storytelling into the curriculum, students develop empathy, critical thinking skills, and an appreciation for the human experience. Outdoor experiences, such as nature walks, observation of natural phenomena, and hands-on exploration, provide students with opportunities to develop their senses, cultivate a sense of wonder, and connect with the world around them. When we are successful at this, students will increase the number of things for which they care about and will connect all elements of life and education to our Creator.
